Johnny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?

Believing in myself, having the support of my family. Of course my faith and the leadership of my brother/father Louis Sanchez.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

It’s been somewhat of a challenge becoming a solo artist. There is a lot of great musicians out there.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?

Well I learned to play guitar at the age of 8. Mi carnal Louis Sanchez taught me, from there I played with the Blue Ventures for 37 years and decided to go solo and branch off into my own and formed the Johnny Sanchez Y Puro Norte in 2005 . Being a solo artist has been a huge success. I have performed at several venues and have had a blast presentantdo la musica de Nuevo México and nuestra cultura.

What song that you recorded is the most popular?

I would have to say both of my original songs, Mi Familia Tan Bonita and Mi Barrio Querido.

Tell us about your new hit song, ‘Con Las Manos En La Masa.’ Did you write this song? What inspired you to record it? How is the song doing on the charts and request lines?

This song was recorded originally by Los Humildes in the 80s. I really enjoyed the beat and style of the music. It has been number one on the charts for a few weeks on KDCE and was recently number at KANW

What part does your family play in your music career?

My family is a huge part  of my music career. They inspire me and support me 110%, They give me the strength to continue and produce hit songs.

What awards have all of you received?

I have received several  15 Grande awards, NMHMA I received song of the year, produce of the year, original song of the year, songwriter of the year and corrido of the year.

Johnny, what are your future aspirations as a music artist?

To teach the youth, los nietos  the importance of nuestra musica and to keep the culture and heritage alive.
