Andrea Michelle Launches Solo Music Artist Career and Releases New Single, ‘Las Cuentas Claras’

Andrea Lucero is a well known music artist in the New Mexico music scene as the lead vocalist for Divino. Andrea is starting a new path as a solo artist under the name, Andrea Michelle. Meet Andrea Michelle.

Andrea Michelle tells us why she chose to pursue a Solo Career as a music artist at this time in your life?
Sometimes life in it’s crazy adventures takes you down a path that leads you to the right place at the right time. Although music has always been a big part of my life, since I was young I never fully pursued a music career. I married and had 4 beautiful children. I stood on the side lines and cheered and accompanied, but never fully embraced the opportunity to go, “solo.” I realized that through time and maturity God, Creator has his reasons for everything and time unfolds as it should. I feel that through time I have built on experience which helps me as an artist to express a song and a message on a level that I hope speaks through the songs. I understand heartache, love, and struggles. My goal hopefully is to create something that also reaches into the soul and speaks to the listener. Perhaps a story which they can find joy, or identify with as well. I would also like to be an example especially for woman that age should not keep anyone from perusing their goals and dreams. I feel I have definitely been able to experience the best of both worlds!

Tell Me about your Single, “Las Cunetas Claras”.
How many times has a woman been able to sand and speak for herself? Today although many have had the opportunity to embrace femininity, I feel there is still a stereo type out there. That woman should be obedient and keep their mouth shut. To me, “Las Cuentas Claras” done originally by “Chelo” in 1978. Speaks openly to the man, where she asks about love and lack of. She expresses herself by saying, “You are saying you will make me pay for what you have suffered because of me? But what fault do I have if you never liked my way to love you? If I am a woman and you weren’t able to be what a man should be? The song struck me for two reasons, one, because after years of working with victims of Domestic Violence, I realized how many woman fail to find their voice in a relationship. And two, Chelo would be one of the many woman I listened to as a young girl and admired because of her beautiful display and her strong messages. Her along with artists like Chavela Vargas, Lola Betran, and Yolanda del Rio were dynamic strong woman singing about love, life, passion and heartache.

Why did you choose this song to launch your solo Career?
I chose this song for the very simple reason that it is easier for a man to say what he says without anyone raising an eyebrow, but when a woman does this it somehow a big deal? There is equality in a relationship, (and there should be all around the board.) Unfortunately we still live in a world where its easier for a man sometimes than it is a woman to get her point across with the lack of being looked at as inferior. I chose the song to hopefully inspire and encourage woman to find their voice.

Andrea Michelle tells us about her future Goals?
I am in the process of so many exciting projects and collaborations! I am hoping to have a full CD out by early 2021. I am still singing with my beloved group “Divino”. There are so many projects that we have been working on including a CD to be released in August of this year! I am currently in the studio working on new songs as well.
